Mr. Joseph N. Mbadugha
Mr. McCarthy Mbadugha is the founding partner of the law firm McCarthy Mbadugha & Co. He was admitted to the Bar of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and started his legal practice with Bank Chambers under Chief G.N. Uwechue (SAN). Mr. Mbadugha has a high profile of admiralty and cross border practice. The sphere of his interests includes admiralty & maritime law, cross-border commercial transactions, cross-border litigation/arbitration, cross-border insolvency etc. He has acted as a counsel in several international and domestic arbitrations. In 2004, he was one of the counsels instructed by the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to review the draft of the Nigerian Electronic Transaction Act. Mr. Mbadugha holds an LLB (Hons) degree of the University of Lagos, Nigeria and an LLM degree (in International Commercial Law) of Cardiff Law School, University of Wales, United Kingdom. He has spoken at several international seminars and conferences in the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, andChina and has contributed to several publications. He is also a member of international and regional law associations. Mr Mbadugha is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London and the Hong Kong Maritime Law Associations.
