Thomas Wälde Fund

The late Prof. Thomas Wälde and Mr. Ian Laird in September 2008 launched an appeal to raise funds to support developing country teams' participation in the FDI Moot. The Thomas Wälde Team Fund (TWTF) distributes donations in the form of accommodation or travel subsidies (typically €300-€800 per qualifying team). The full amount of all donations received goes to teams. Teams receiving subsidies are selected based on available funds and team needs.

Since 2011, Skadden has matched donations (up to US $1500). We would like to thank the individuals and organisations for their donations and their matching. support.

All teams advancing from a Regional to the Global Rounds and eligible for support from the Thomas Wälde Fund, i.e. from low- or medium-HDI (income) countries, must return the completed application for monetary assistance form before the Claimant Memorial deadline. Untimely applications will not be considered.

All eligible and timely applications remain subject to the usual considerations: availability of funds, HDI index of home country, number of team members travelling, travel costs, etc. Teams will be notified within a fortnight after the deadline whether and how much of a grant has been awarded.
